NLP
What is NLP?
NEURO- LINGUISTIC- PROGRAMMING is a set of tools and techniques that bring about self-development and change. People can use it to become the person they really want to be.
How does it work?
In order to do make changes that are needed people have to take time to look at where they are and see which are the areas in their life that need addressing; and why. They need to establish where they want to be, and then evaluate how to get from one place to the other. They either need to use resources they already have or create new ones.
How do people access or create resources?
The unconscious mind has stored within it all the information that people need to be a success; everything that they have ever experienced is stored there. So whether they need to look at the areas in life where they have weakness and fear or whether they recall moments when they achieved success; it is already within them.
How do people get to recall the memories they need - especially if some events were in early childhood - before they have conscious recall?
NLP often makes use of the state of trance - sometimes while eyes are open and sometimes while they are closed - it really doesn't matter. All trance is is a focused state of attention; whilst in the state of trance people can remember the past more clearly and also imagine the future more vividly.
Once people have access to these memories what can they do?
They can either view the negative events of the past in a new way... seeing themselves coping, succeeding and doing well or they can mentally rehearse how they want the future to be. The mind is a powerful tool, which, when used correctly can assist people in accomplishing their goals. However, without awareness of weak spots and negative thoughts, habits and behaviours, the mind can also be the worst enemy. Taking control and being the master of thinking and what is focused on is the key to success.
What are the key areas that are focused on when using NLP?
How do people know if something needs to be changed?
If whatever someone is thinking, feeling or doing isn't beneficial, it is time to change.
What impact can using NLP have?
When the thoughts people have, the words they use, the pictures they make in their mind, their beliefs, behaviours and the way they use their body are coherent and representative of a state of success then there is very little that cannot be done. People must be clear about what they want; NLP has all the tools needed to help people be the best they can be.

- Words: language, thoughts; communication to others and the self, which affects all actions taken.
- Pictures: made in the mind; recall of memories and mental rehearsals of the past and future.
- Physiology: the way the body reacts and responds to the information it receives.
