What is NLP?
NEURO- LINGUISTIC- PROGRAMMING is a set of tools and techniques that bring about self-development and change. You can use it to become the person you really want to be.


How does it work?
 In order to do make the changes you need you have to take some time to look at where you are right now and see which are the areas on your life that need to be addressed and why. Then you need to establish where it is that you want to be and once you have this information you can evaluate  how you will get from one place to the other. You will either need to use the resources you already have or create new ones.

How do you access or create resources?

Your unconscious has stored within it all the information that you need to be a success; everything that you have ever experienced in your life is stored here. So whether you need to look at the areas in your life where you have weakness and fear so that you can change it or whether you recall moments in time when you achieved success; all the information is already there within you. 



How do you get to recall these memories- especially if some of the events were in early childhood- before you have conscious recall?
NLP often makes use of the state of trance- sometimes while eyes are open and sometimes while they are closed- it really doesn't matter. All trance is is a focused state of attention; whilst in the state of trance you can remember the past more clearly and also imagine the future more vividly. 

Once you have access to these memories what can you do?
You can either view the negative events of the past in a new way....seeing yourself coping, succeeding and doing well or you can simply mentally rehearse how you want the future to be; Your mind is a very powerful tool, which when used correctly can assist you in accomplishing all of your goals. However without being aware of the weak spots and the negative thoughts, habits and behaviours that are picked up along the way...the mind can also be your worst enemy. Taking control and being the master of your thinking and what you focus on is the key to success.

What are the key areas that are focused on when using NLP? Your thoughts, which are affected by the words that you use, to others and to yourself; which lead to the actions you take. The pictures that you make in your mind, your recall of memories and the mental rehearsals that you make of the future and your physiology; the way your body reacts and responds to the information it receives. 

How do you know if something needs to be changed?
If whatever you are thinking, feeling or doing right now does not serve you in a way that is beneficial, it is time to change.

What impact can using NLP have?
When the thoughts you have, the words you use, the pictures that you make in your mind, your beliefs,  behaviours and the way you use your body  are coherent and represent a state of success then there is very little that you cannot do. All you have to do is decide what you want;  NLP has all the tools you need to help you to be the best that you can be.
